Why the price on the website is the wrong number
A tool can say $0.28 a record, but you do not get a working email for each record. Some records have no email, and some emails bounce. You pay for the bounced ones too. Here is what that does to the price.
-
You look up 100 records
100
People Data Labs charges $0.28 for each email it finds.
-
It finds an email for 70
$19.60
You pay for those 70. The other 30 have no email.
-
56 of those emails work
56
The other 14 bounce, but you paid for them.
-
Each working email costs
$0.35
$19.60 divided by 56.
So the real price is 25% more than the price on the website. The full pricing for each tool is in our enrichment pricing guide.
How each tool charges you
Each tool uses a different way to charge, so you cannot compare the prices on their websites. The calculator turns all of them into the same number. For which tool to use when, read Clay vs Apollo vs ZoomInfo.
-
Clay
You buy credits, and you spend them when a tool in Clay finds an email.
Good when you want to use many data sources in one place, in a waterfall.
-
Apollo
You pay for each user seat, and each seat comes with a number of records.
Good when you want a low price for a large number of records.
-
People Data Labs
You pay a monthly fee for a number of records, then a price for each extra record.
Good when your developers want a simple API with a clear price.
-
ZoomInfo
You sign a yearly contract with seats and credits, and you buy more credits when you need them.
Good when you need phone numbers and data about large companies.
-
FullEnrich and BetterContact
They are waterfalls. They ask many data sources for each person, and you pay only when they find an email.
Good when you want to find the most emails without building a waterfall yourself.
-
Findymail, Prospeo, LeadMagic, Icypeas and Hunter
They are email finders with monthly plans. Each one uses its own data, and most charge only for verified emails.
Good when you want a very low price for each email, and you can accept fewer finds.
-
Lusha
You buy a monthly plan with credits, and phone numbers cost more credits than emails.
Good for small teams who want emails and phone numbers in a browser extension.
Questions
What is cost per valid record?
It is what you really pay for each email that works. Take what you pay in a month, and divide it by the number of emails that the tool finds and that do not bounce. It is usually much higher than the price on the website, because you also pay for records with no email and for emails that bounce.
Which enrichment tool is the cheapest?
It depends on how many records you enrich. Email finders like Icypeas, Prospeo and Findymail have the lowest price for each email, but they find fewer emails. Waterfalls like FullEnrich, BetterContact and Clay cost more for each email, but they find the most. ZoomInfo has a large yearly fee, so it costs the most at low volume. Move the slider to see where each tool wins for you.
Where do your numbers come from?
We use the public pricing pages of each tool from October 2026, and independent tests where they exist. For example, LeadMagic costs $99 a month for 5,000 credits, and Apollo found emails for 78% of records in one test. Most tools do not publish a find rate, so we made an estimate and said so. Open “Change the numbers” to see each source.
My contract has a different price. Can I use my own numbers?
Yes. Open “Change the numbers” under the results. Type your own price, your seats or your match rate, and the results change straight away. Click “Go back to our numbers” to start again.
What is a waterfall?
A waterfall asks one data tool for an email. If that tool finds nothing, it asks the next tool, and so on. You put the cheapest tool first. So most records cost a low price, and only the hard records go to the expensive tools. A waterfall usually costs $0.15 to $0.40 for each full record.
Why does the bounce rate matter so much?
You pay for an email even when it bounces. Bounces also hurt your sending domain. Gmail and Yahoo want your bounce rate under 2%, so a cheap tool with bad emails can cost you more later.
Can you build this for me?
Yes. We build enrichment waterfalls in Clay for our clients, and we connect them to your CRM and your email campaigns. Book a call, and we work out your real cost with you.
